The MFA Acting Program at CalArts

In addition to his work as an award-winning director, choreographer and playwright, Art Manke has taught at some of the nations leading theatre conservatories, including University of California at San Diego, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, the American Conservatory Theatre, and the Stella Adler Art of Acting Studio where he is currently on faculty. Art Manke recently conducted an audition workshop for graduate acting students at CalArts.

Dedicated to innovative expression and a critical approach to the creative arts, CalArts earned the highest place on the list of colleges for arts students from Newsweek/The Daily Beast. The school offers four-year undergraduate programs and a three-year graduate program.

The CalArts Acting MFA program provides training for actors preparing for a career across the spectrum from traditional theater to the latest media technologies. Its rigorous instruction covers acting, movement, speech, and voice, assisting students in developing the instrument of their bodies in collaboration with the imagination.

Students move on to advanced scene study and techniques for acting in front of the camera. They continue to tackle practical tools while broadening their imaginative abilities and developing their craft as performance artists.
